Name Your Hero’s

I hope, sincerely, that we will all have experienced extraordinary understanding, and received help that was above the call of duty, from people who have been willing to step out of their own comfort zone, stretch out a non-judgemental hand, or have been willing to go out of their way to help us.

This is the place to say ‘thank you’ to all of those people who have risen above their call of duty…

My Latent Self by Anne Ricketts [2]This page was inspired by my daughter, Sam Stanton. I was discharged from hospital without any information and received no follow-up support. Sam was fifteen-years-old at the time, and I am sure that all she wanted was her Mum back. She has stood by me through all of the events of my life post-injury. Her loyalty, endearing humour and sheer ability to love and reach beyond her own comfort zones astounds me. Sam has been so dedicated. There have been many times she has needed to reach down deep for the strength to see beyond my disabilities. No matter what has happened, or what I have been like, she has always found the capacity within her deep heart to see me for who she knows I am beneath the sometimes bizarre behaviours that I know I exhibit. My baby girl knows that no matter what, we are all, always doing our best. She is her own living testament to this…

Sam helps me with running my home and is my personal reminder system. She now has her own family and responsibilities, and yet she always finds time to make sure that I understand what I am doing… She is brilliant at keeping a close eye on me when anything changes… Sam is my personal organiser too and I love her with the ‘all’ of me. I have no idea where I would be or what would have happened to me if she hadn’t decided to stand by me – no matter what… I know this has not been an easy experience for her; my gratitude amounts to everything that exists before and beyond the horizon… Bless you Sam. “Mwah!” “Thank you for being you x x x x . You have enriched my life, made it all worthwhile and gave me an unconscious drive to heal. Thank you for always forgiving me whenever I haven’t been able to remember all the things that were, and are, so important to you Sweetie. I am eternally grateful to you and thank God that ‘we’ made you strong… I am sorry that you ‘lost’ your Muma for so long…”
